I have the most common blood group - 'O'. Will mine be useful?
- The most common blood group is the one that is constantly in demand. It can be used in certain cases for people with rare blood groups also.

Who can give blood?
- Healthy individuals aged between 18 and 60 with a minimum weight of 45 Kgs. can donate blood.
What if I am undergoing medication?
- If you are taking any form of medication - medicines, pills, or injections - tell us before you register. Some medications, or the medical conditions they are prescribed for, may prevent you donating for the time being.

How often can I give blood?
- Usually two or three times a year - normally not more often than once every 12 weeks.

How much blood will I lose?
- If your weight Between 45 and 50 Kg,You give just 350 ml for one donation. If you are more than 50 Kg and 5 Feet,You give just 450 ml for one donation
- Your body naturally replaces the lost fluid in a period of forty eight hours .

How will giving blood affect my health?
- Blood donation is very safe - each year over millions of people donate blood.

What if I feel faint when I get home?
- This happens only very rarely. If you feel dizzy or faint, lie down with your feet higher than your head. Have plenty of fluids. As long as you do not feel sick, eat your normal meals. You should recover quickly. If not, please consult your nearest physician.

Can I smoke/drink after giving blood?
- Though it is strictly not prohibited it is generally advisable to refrain from smoking or drinking alcohol for the next couple of hours.

Can I go back to work on the same day?
- Definitely!!.. But if you are feeling dizzy and weak avoid doing strenuous jobs for the next four hours.
